Senator Tom De Blois was elected to the New Hampshire Senate in 2010. He serves District 18 which includes Litchfield, and Wards 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 in Manchester, the state's largest city.
The senator's top legislative priority is balancing the state's budget but he is also a strong supporter of school vouchers and Second Amendment rights. During the 2011-2012 legislative session, he sits on the Commerce and Health & Human Services Committees.
A native of Manchester, Senator De Blois has lived the American dream. Raised in public housing, he went on to own and operate several businesses, including a restaurant, a trucking company, a day care center and today, a commercial real estate development company.
Sen. De Blois is a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served three years in active duty and three years in the Reserves. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Business Science.
A respected member of the community, Tom was awarded the Queen City Rotary Paul Harris Award for Service Above Self in 2009. He serves as President of the Franco American Center, sits on the Board of Directors of the YMCA, is a long-time supporter of the Boys and Girls Club and attends St. Pius Catholic Church. In 2011, he was named New Hampshire's Franco-American of the Year.
He and his wife Peggy McGuire have been married for 46 years. They have two daughters and one grandson.
